On April 20, Singer Cuba Gooding Sr. was found dead in his car. It was parked on a busy street in the Woodland Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles, CA. Drug paraphernalia and multiple bottles of alcohol were found in the car with him. Police suspect that he may have overdosed but the cause of his death is currently under investigation. He was 72, with less than a week to go until his 73rd birthday.
Gooding was the lead singer of the rhythm-and-blues band The Main Ingredient, best known for the 1972 hit “Everybody Plays the Fool.” He was the father of Oscar-award winning actor Cuba Gooding Jr.
CPR was performed by the local fire department on the scene, but they were unable to revive him. He is survived by his wife, three sons, daughter, and grandchildren.
