On the heels of releasing her newest album, “Witness,” pop-star, singer and songwriter, Katy Perry recently opened up about her ongoing battles with depression, alcoholism and suicidal thoughts. She discussed these issues in a live streaming session that has since been published on YouTube.
“I wrote a song about it. I feel ashamed that I would have those thoughts, feel that low and depressed. You can be right or you can be loved. I just want to be loved,” she said to her therapist during the live stream.
Perry talked about her difficulties with depression and how it eventually led to alcohol addiction. The star also admitted that her suicidal thoughts were not a new development, claiming that her 2013 song, “By the Grace of God” addressed her ongoing struggles. The world-famous musician said that she has been in therapy for five years and indicated that she wants to return to being her more authentic self as opposed to her celebrity persona.
